Orienteering Bay of Plenty (OBOP) and the Rotorua branch of 350.org are delighted to bring you this fun event to raise awareness of climate change and the actions you can take to reduce the impacts of climate change on our communities.
Many organisations around the world have set a goal to keep atmospheric CO2 below 450 parts per million (ppm), to minimise the risk of global temperatures rising more than 2degC above pre-industrial levels. The map provided identifies checkpoints around the CBD area. You will have up to 2 hours to visit as many points as possible. At each checkpoint you will be required to find the answer to a question. Each correct answer will earn you points – which are deducted from your initial total of 450, leading you towards the target of 350.
RAVE will also be the focus for displays/info related to climate change and actions eg hand-crank generator demonstration with regular/CFL bulbs, electric bicycle, solar ovens, Walking School bus, sustainable backyards etc. Also band, children's activities, face painting (Green)...
